Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kościuszko (or Andrew Thaddeus Bonaventure Kosciuszko) (1746-1817) was Polish freelance soldier and military engineer who fought in the American Revolutionary War (among others) for the cause of American freedom.

Located on Union Street in Boston's North End, the Green Dragon Tavern was a hotbed of activity in pre-revolutionary Boston. In 1764, the tavern was sold to the St. Andrew's Lodge of Freemasons. The tavern's "Long Room" was used by several clubs and caucuses for private and public meetings. Consider what was planned in that room...Historians have come to refer to the famed spot as the "Headquarters of the Revolution."

Made this collage because I loved the way the original subjects are posing and looking at the viewer from above. Filled it out with images that interested me from individual pages in magazines. Dream until its your reality - for me, that's making a living off my art and financial independence.

I made this work, titled 'The Rot Beneath the Gown,' as a representation of the costs involved in consumerism, fashion and consumption - the human costs, slave labour, historical exploitation, imperialism and death that persists to this day to feed the colonial need for hoarding resources, beauty and clothing to express class.

Revolutionary War Founding Fathers Joseph Warren and Paul Revere were friends, contemporaries, masonic brothers, confidants, confederates, and compatriots. The pair both lost their wives in the same week. This shared grief, along with brotherhood and shared ideas about the rights of the colonists, bonded the two. Undoubtedly, Warren's death at Bunker Hill deeply affected the famed silversmith. It's no wonder Paul Revere named his son Joseph Warren Revere.

Watermelons were originally a symbol of black emancipation pre Jim Crow era and were then co-opted by racists to become a racist trope about their supposed uncleanliness, childishness, idleness and unfitness for the public square. It was spread in US print throughout the late 1860s and supported the post-emancipation argument that African Americans were unsuited for citizenship. Well, FUCK that.

On March 5, British Soldiers of the 29th Regiment fired on Boston locals, an incident known almost immediately after as the "Bloody Massacre" or "Boston Massacre."

Paul Revere was a silversmith in colonial Boston. He's famous for his midnight ride to warn colonists about the British troops who were poised to attack. “Noise!” cried Revere, “You’ll have noise enough before long. The regulars are coming out!” According to tradition, John Hancock, who was still awake, heard Revere’s voice and said “Come in, Revere! We’re not afraid of you”. He entered the house and delivered his message.
