Recycling was partly a sham created by the plastic industry to make us think we can actually reduce pollution simply by throwing plastic products in the right rubbish bin. But now we know, most single-use plastic won't be recycled and usually end up in landfills and could stay there not degraded for hundreds of years. This is mainly because of the type of plastic they are and because recycling centers/plants avoid putting them in their machinery to avoid jamming them.
