Description: Libertarianism is a political philosophy that holds freedom, personal sovereignty, and liberty as primary values and as such, adherents advocate for minimal state intervention in the free market and the private lives of citizens. The Future of Freedom Conference series, which was held in Long Beach in May 1969, is considered the first true libertarian conference to be organized and held in the United States, and perhaps the world. The keynote speaker for the first conference was Ludwig von Mises, the well-known Austrian economist, sociologist, and classical libertarian. Following that first event, a series of subsequent conferences has brought diverse advocates of liberty to Southern California.
