Description: The Legend of the Bathing Suit Bike. On September 13, 1948, Rollie Free shattered the land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Riding an aligerated British 1000cc V-Twin, his protective leathers tore during initial runs, creating wind resistance. In a display of sheer grit, Free stripped down to swimming trunks and laid completely flat out along the rear fender with his legs extended straight behind him.
