When you are a child, the world around you is so enchanting and full of wonder. I recall picking dandelion clocks and blowing the seeds into the air and my grandparents sharing with me that fairies tell the time by how many blows it takes to remove all the seeds. Therefore, the second Spring fairy painting of the series is called 'Spring Timekeeper Fairy'. The ladybirds going about their work represent protection, healing, good fortune, and grace in Native American spirituality as it is a very spiritual animal that often protects plants and flowers from pests and other bugs to help them thrive.

The painting was inspired by the beautiful woodland close to my home in East Sussex where bluebells grow in abundance. I decided to work on a small series of oil paintings exploring the elemental and natural world in the spring. There is a moment when winter gives over to Spring. Blue turns to green, frost flowers become solid. This has been credited to the patterns of mature. She lives where the caterpillar go to dream while they reform themselves to butterflies. She is the guardian of transformations watching I leasing, and protecting those who are dreaming of a new form on a spring day after the long lean lessons of winter. The goddess of Spring - Harry Clarke Harry Clarke was a leading Irish stained glass artist and Golden Age illustrator. His line work is very detailed and has a somewhat psychedelic feel to it.

....is so darn difficult to shoot - she won't keep still for a SECOND. However, I did my best and here she is. She delights me daily with her antics and her magical character entrances all who come into contact with her. My daughter, Grace (6), dressed in the beautiful bougainvillea that flourishes outside my bedroom window, which continually calls me to take photographs of it. Having said that, how many bougainvillea pics can you possibly take before everybody is bored silly? (and I've done quite a few...) So I thought I'd do a different take on bougainvillea, although I'm not great with photoshop.
