In Catholic scriptures and traditions, he acts as the protector of the church and opponent of Satan. In John's New Testament revelation, Michael appears in an eschatological context as the conqueror of Satan, whom he falls down to earth. Dominum Deum tuum adorabis, et illi soli servies (You shall worship the Lord your God and serve him alone!). This Bible quote from the Gospels speaks Michael to Satan on the first scroll. Non serviam 'I will not serve' is a phrase that is attributed to satan in church history, which is why it is under the dragon.
