The village of Iffley-on-Thames at Oxford. At this point the river is properly called The Isis and as you walk along the Thames Path from here to Oxford you pass the Oxford University's college boathouses. The village itself is a conservation area, its narrow streets leading down to the river where you cross the weir to reach the lock. In the background, rising above the trees, is the Norman church of St Mary the Virgin, a Grade 1 listed building.

Bourton on the Water, Cotswolds, UK Bourton on the Water is a charming English village, known as the Venice of the Cotwolds. Situated on the River Windrush, Bourton-on-the-Water is a village in the rural Cotswolds area of south central England. Straddling the River Windrush, it’s known for its low bridges and traditional stone houses. The Cotswold Motoring Museum features vintage cars and a toy collection. Birdland is home to species including parrots, owls and king penguins, plus life-size model dinosaurs. The Model Village is a 1930s scale replica of the village. By Paul Thompson Photography
