Description: This little dumbo octopus (Grimpoteuthis) is hanging out in the warm waters of the deep water hydrothermal vents. There are vent crabs (Bythograea thermydron) and giant tube worms (Riftia pachyptila) are there too. Hot steam and minerals are spewing out of the vents and so much life is thriving there, even in the pitch dark, because of chemosynthesis.
