Description: Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 (VMFA-122) is a United States Marine Corps fighter attack squadron flying the F-35B Lightning II. The squadron is based out of Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 13 (MAG-13) and the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW). In December 2016, VMFA-122 officially became known as the "Flying Lethernecks”. Their traditional call sign is "Nikel". It entered service in 1960 with the USN, it was also adopted by the USMC & USAF, and by the mid-1960s had become a major part of their air arms. F-4 is fighter with top speed of over Mach 2.2. In 1959, it set 15 world records for in-flight performance, including absolute speed record & absolute altitude record. F-4 was used extensively during the Vietnam War. F-4 formed major part of US air power throughout the 70s & 80s, being gradually replaced by more modern aircrafts. F-4 remained in use by the US in the recon & Wild Weasel roles in Gulf War, leaving service in 1996. F-4 was also used in 11 nations.
