It is a mythical city-state, possibly in Central Asia, ruled by a figure called the King of the World, who secretly influences the surface world. While this is a legendary concept, the name "Aghartha" is also used for other things, such as a Sunn O))) guitar effects pedal and various other musical projects.

A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings."
