Photograph of the original culture plate of the fungus Penicillium notatum, made by the Scottish bacteriologist Sir Alexander Fleming whilst working at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London. Fleming was born on August 6th 1881 & died on March 11 1955. Fleming discovered in 1928 that secretions from Penicillium notatum destroyed colonies of the bacterium Staphylococcus sp. The secretion was named an antibiotic. Clinical trials and the commercial production of antibiotics did not occur until the Second World War.

Palamnaeus scorpion. X-ray of the adult scorpion Palamnaeus fulvipes. A hard exoskeleton covers the body; inside it can be seen muscles in the tail, walking legs, and pincers (at top). Scorpions are carnivorous arachnids, their prey consisting of beetles, cockroaches and other arthropods. Prey is grasped with the pincers, then passed to the chelicerae (small, paired first appendages) which carry food to the mouth. The poison spine in the "tail" is used only when the prey is large or struggles violently. Four pairs of walking legs are seen. The flattened body of scorpions enable them to live in cracks in rocks and under stones. They are active typically at night.

This is the 10th design featuring my original character, Flint. She's the villain in my Steven Universe fan fiction, SUFR-VERSE. This drawing was made on my Nintendo Switch using the Colors Live painting app. This is the LIGHT version of the design, which only prints in WHITE (plus 2 shades of grey) so be sure to choose a suitable dark color to print on!

This drawing was made on my Nintendo Switch using the Colors Live painting app. This is the DARK version of the design, which prints in black & white (plus 2 shades of grey). The design still makes cool use of negative space though; why not try previewing a few different colors?
