Memento mori (Latin 'remember that you [have to] die ) is an artistic or symbolic reminder of the inevitability of death. The philosopher Democritus trained himself by going into solitude and frequenting tombs. Plato's Phaedo, where the death of Socrates is recounted, introduces the idea that the proper practice of philosophy is "about nothing else but dying and being dead". The Stoics of classical antiquity were particularly prominent in their use of this discipline, and Seneca's letters are full of injunctions to meditate on death.

I can’t see a better way to express the Stoic philosophy than a bunch of skulls. For the last 6 years, I have been reading and contemplating the Stoic philosophy, especially by Marcus Aurelius. It’s not just that makes sense but it makes me feel inspired to live the ‘today right now’ in a sublime way. This is my way to share this faith journey in a different way… “Soon or later, expecting it or not, rich or poor, want it or not”… “We all are going to die one day” –memento mori-

All men die.

Memento Mori is an artistic or symbolic reminder of the inevitability of death. But for me it is a reminder that every second we are dying so live in the moment and make the most of it.
