At the end of several days of cloudy Pacific Northwest weather, the sun finally came out for a few minutes. It looked lovely in the fronds of this amazing willow tree at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland, Washington. People are taking an evening stroll on the walking pier that overlooks Lake Washington. The lake and various puddles are glowing shades of orange, yellow, and pink. you can see a sligth grayish sillhouette of Seattle to the right of the frame.

It was very cold that evening but the sunset was incredible! The lake was frozen and the sun was creating beautiful reflections on the ice which bounced around on the nearby trees.

Komorebi roughly translates as “the scattered light that filters through when sunlight shines through trees”. It is made up of three “Kanji” or Chinese characters: “tree” or “trees”, “leaking-through” or “escape”, and “light” or “sun”.

Have you ever laid on your back in a forest and looked up at the sky? There is something so mesmerising about the way the leaves look in autumn. this negative watercolour painting was created digitally.

Light coming through shows the structure of the small tree in winter which is masked by leaves in summer. Warm feeling. Gold.

The Tracks Through the Trees is an art print I created using a pointillism watercolor technique. This technique uses round dots for brush strokes and subdued colors creating a soft, warm look. This particular print depicts railroad tracks running along a row of fall colored trees. The setting is Issaquah, Washington located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range to the east of Seattle. through the trees

The original painting was done in acrylics on canvas. I love using bright colours and I think that shows in this painting.

I do like to walk among trees. This an image of just one such occasion, when we went for a walk in the Naftel's Conservation Area, near Goderich, Ontario. It's close to where we have our cottage, a place where we can spend an hour roaming among the very varied treescapes. I love this image for the way the trees converge. It's interesting the way this species of tree abandons its lower branches in its race for the sky. On the ground is a carpet of fallen needles that have turned a deep reddy-brown.
