This image was shot at Old Hartley in Northumberland on the North East coast of England, looking south towards St Mary's Island which can be spotted on the horizon on an overcast morning in September with the sun just showing through the clouds.

Clouds for days

Having tired of driving the I76 across Nebraska and Colorado, we had opted to take the I76 Alternate after North Platte. The day was heavily overcast, it did rain later, but our travels became so much more interesting. This is an image of an old silo in Merino, Colorado. It was clear that the building had seen better days, but the soft, flat lighting gave the old building such interest against the turbulent sky.

We were worried the sunrise at the Queensland Instameet at Redcliffe wouldn't be interesting because of the overcast skies. We were wrong!

Scenic Malibu vista in springtime, California

This image depicts a solitary tree by the side of the road somewhere near the western end of the Blue Ridge Parkway. While driving the parkway, I was really taken with the view to the south at this point. The tree overlooked a magnificent vista of blue fringed mountains, but in that moment, it was the tree, in its lonely isolation, that piqued my interest. The layering of green foreground, blue mountains, and a turbulent sky, with the tree and rock placed on this simple landscape that made it for me. I hope you enjoy it too!
