A4 Pacific Class - Union of South Africa, October 2018 The streamlined shape of the A4 Pacific class of locomotives set them apart from the rest in 1930s passenger rail travel in Great Britain. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER), 35 of the locomotives were built between 1935 and 1938 at the LNER's Doncaster locomotive works. The most famous A4 of them all was of course the Mallard, which to this day holds the world record as the fastest steam locomotive of all time, reaching a speed of 126 miles per hour on the 3rd of July 1938. Storage Shed In Sepia is a sepia tone photographic art print of a storage shed on an oyster farm. The setting is an oyster farm located on San Juan Island in the Pacific Northwest. San Juan Island is home to Friday Harbor on the eastern side and Roche Harbor on the western side. The oyster farm is located close to Roche Harbor. I used a sepia tone finish and texture on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally. Bright Orange Tropical Sunset is an art print I created using a fauvist oil technique. This technique uses strong abstract shapes with bold colors to create a clean modern look. The setting is Carlsbad, California along the coast highway. Carlsbad is located in the northern part of San Diego County and is a popular beach town. In this particular area, there is a sidewalk up on the bluff overlooking the beach and surf of the Pacific Ocean. It’s a great place to take a sunset stroll and enjoy the cool ocean breeze. Space Needle Colorful Sky - is a wall art print created using a fauvism oil technique of Seattle's Space Needle and downtown area. The view is from Kerry park in the Queen Anne District of Seattle. Looking south from the park gives you a spectacular view of the city core of Seattle. From this perspective the Space Needle is in the foreground with the downtown buildings filling in the background. The park is situated on the rising southern slope of Queen Anne Hill and at the top of the hill you have a panoramic view sweeping all the way south to Mt Rainier and coming back north along Elliot Bay and the Puget Sound.
