English Seaside, Victorian Houses Phone Case

A row of Victorian houses, the pinnacle of English solidity, faces the sea at Clacton. The sky is blue, full of brine and ozone, a tinge of vinegar and frying chips. Seagulls sing and crow, and from the sea comes the gentle sound of waves. Childhood memories, Proustian triggers of colour and taste, happy innocence, infantile joy and freedom. I was struck by the colours of the houses, by their height and stature. Decades of history preserved in brick, of grandeur and fall.
