Description: Held each October in Albuquerque and drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe, the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is the world’s largest hot air balloon festival. First launched in 1972 with just 13 balloons, the event has grown into a spectacular nine-day celebration featuring mass ascensions where hundreds of colorful balloons rise together at dawn, filling the desert sky against the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains. With its vibrant visuals, crisp autumn weather, and festive atmosphere, the Balloon Fiesta has become one of New Mexico’s most iconic and beloved annual events.
