Geddy used to have his amps behind him, but then he started just plugging his bass into the PA system so there was this huge empty space behind him. One night the roadies decided to just put random stuff behind him, and it was funny and the fans loved it; so they started doing it from then on. They chose washing machines for the Vapor Trails tour.

Rush was a Canadian rock band that primarily comprised Geddy Lee (bass guitar, keyboards, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 with Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, whom Lee immediately replaced. After Lee joined, the band went through several line-ups before arriving at its classic power trio lineup with the addition of Peart in July 1974, who replaced Rutsey four months after the release of their self-titled debut album; this lineup remained intact for the remainder of the band's career.

The Toronto band J.R. Flood's 1970 demo recording featuring a teenage Neil Peart on drums and as lyricist, late organist Bob Morrison, guitarist Paul Dickinson, bass guitarist Wally Tomczuk, and singer and lyricist Gary Luciani.

The OB-1 is a simple and great monophonic synth from Oberheim based on the same synth architecture as the SEM. Released in 1978, it was the first truly programmable analog synth of it's time with 8 program memories. Classic and fat sounding bass & lead synth sounds. Similar in sound and synthesis from the Roland SH-101 to the MicroMoog. It has two analog oscillators and a very capable 2 or 4 pole switchable VCF (filter) that sounds great, and a good LFO that can control the VCA or VCF. This is a very versatile monosynth, especially during its time, and makes an interesting alternative to other more common bass-synths. It has been used by Tangerine Dream, Rush, Vince Clarke, and The Grid.

A design inspired by Rush's third album, "Caress of Steel." I really wanted to capture the essence of the album's name with this one, so I stuck relatively close to that "gentle giant" sentiment that comes with it.
