Sullivan Bay, Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Sullivan Bay lies 60 km due south of Melbourne on Port Phillip bay, one kilometre east of Sorrento, Victoria. It is a sheltered bay and is home to several private jetty's. It was established as a short-lived convict settlement in 1803 by Lieutenant-Colonel David Collins, who named the bay after the Under-Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, John Sullivan.

Whilst it was snowing I took this picture of the oxford canal,looking through Newbold tunnel Bridge 49 towards fools bridge 48 and boats in the distance. Newbold tunnel is a quarter of a mile long build in 1820s when they shortened the oxford canal. The original tunnel ran under St. Botolphs church yard in Newbold on Avon the entrance to the tunnel can still be seen. Canon 600D

The colorfully dramatic headsails of a class E-sloop sailboat shine in the bright light of summer while engaged in a regatta.

This photo was taken just when the Marina on Maryland's Eastern Shore was full of sailboats. It was early in the morning along the Chesapeake Bay before the sailboats were launched for a day out on the water. I added a sepia tinted texture to give the image a vintage look.

A digital art image of the canal basin at Brecon in Powys, South Wales. Here the Monmouth and Brecon Canal reaches its northernmost limit after winding through the Brecon Beacons. The canal was constructed to link Brecon with the docks at Newport, the narrow boats carrying coal, iron and limestone. A system of tramways linked the canal to the mines and quarries. It is currently navigable between Brecon and Pontymoile, with plans in place to extend this to Newport.

The harbour at Maryport on the north coast of Cumbria. Maryport is the southernmost town on the Solway Firth and across the water can be seen the Scottish coast, This was once a thriving port centred round the coal and ship building industries. Having declined in importance since Victorian times, it is now developing as a holiday and cultural centre and the harbour is now home to fishing boats and yachts.

Many villagers still make their living from the sea, so there are always small fishing boats in the sheltered harbour.
