Description: Bop Street Records first opened on Seattle's Aurora Avenue in 1979, later moved to Ballard Ave in 1984, and moved again in 2010, though just a few blocks away to Market Street. The store was a favorite with collectors who loved finding rare gems among Bop Street's extensive 500,000 recordings, but was also just a great place to stop in to buy records. Bop Street's prestige extended well beyond Seattle’s borders, being named as one of the best five record stores in the country, though sadly, global events of 2020 forced the store to close several years ahead of the owner's intended retirement.
Description: I didn’t get much in my research but, Bop City in New York City exactly at 1619 Broadway (1949- 1965) - Northwest corner of Broadway and 49th Street at Brill Building, was a very intimate Jazz Club were big jazz celebrities used to show up and play their magic in a very private setting. Previously “Zanzibar” club, Bop City brought Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billy Eckstine, Miles Davis, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, John Coltrane (in October 1950) and Dewey Redman, in between others. This is my take of the original logo of this hidden magical club in ‘the city’.
Description: Dave Brubeck's Time Out. Dave Brubeck was an American jazz pianist and composer who was one of the most popular and successful jazz musicians of the mid-20th century. Born in California in 1920, Brubeck studied music at several colleges before forming the Dave Brubeck Quartet in the 1950s. The quartet's innovative style, which incorporated unusual time signatures and classical music influences, helped to make jazz more accessible to mainstream audiences. Brubeck continued to perform and record music throughout his long career, and his influence can still be heard in the music of countless jazz musicians today. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 91.
