The Dusters played their first four seasons in the North American Hockey League, the NAHL inspired the infamous movie Slap Shot. The Dusters played their remaining 3 seasons in the American Hockey League from 1977-1980 before the team was sold and became the Binghamton Whalers. The movie Slap Shot was loosely based on the Dusters.
