Photographers are two a penny these days... almost everybody has some kind of shooting device... some state of the art... some not... but what gets my goat, and is really irritating to me ~ is that not a lot of Wildlife Photography is truly that... WILD ! I've seen some superb wildlife photography presentations with some people making a lot of money selling and presenting their images... only to find out that their images were acquired whilst on a paid shoot somewhere, where the birds of prey 'are baited with fish' to deliver some stunning rapid fire 'burst action' photography... Well, all I could do was marvel... but here's the thing... Personally, and on a very personal level... I don't see this as truly being *Wildlife Pho...

Camouflage is a distinct key to eluding prey items whilst on the hunt in the Wild. This common buzzard, has heavily mottled feathers - blending well with its surroundings within the knurled and gnarled woods. From such high elevation and with good rotational ability of the neck, although not quite as good as owls, these buzzard lock on to their target with forward facing fantastic binocular vision and narrow field of view. Frequently whilst spotting them in the Wild, it is only this head movement and their shape that gives them away to the lens, whilst searching from afar...

We are very lucky in the British Isles to have such wonderful raptors gracing our countryside... In Wales, the historic town of Caernarfon is visited by millions of tourists per year, they climb the turrets of the castle and visit the notorious Eagle Tower... but do they ever stop to think why it might be called that...??? Well, certainly it has a birds eye view - but maybe there's more than just the name... there be dragons, there be raptors, there be, eagles... there be a pub too..! :D But when there's buzzards about and all type...
