Description: Located at the end of a long dirt road off Carretera Federal 45 south of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, El Vaquero Loco Cantina was a rough and tumble roadhouse that began serving up cold beer, stiff drinks, and authentic Mexican food in 1963. This was long before Juárez became a modern manufacturing hub, so truckers, ranchers, and bikers were the primary customer base at El Vaquero Loco, where seven nights a week they enjoyed live music, dancing, fighting, and drinking. Lots and lots of drinking. In the early '70s, a small inn was added with several casitas where those who had one too many could sleep it off for a few pesos. The cantina made it until 2010 as Juárez descended into violence from cartel turf wars, ending its 47-year run.
