When travelling in the Mekong Delta, our driver took a detour to show us the Cai Dao temple in the town of Long Xuyen. The temple was nearing the completion of a renovation, but the people there allowed us to see inside. The worshippers there follow Caidaoism, a monotheist religion that promotes the idea that all religions are one. Caodaism is a new religion, having been founded in 1926, in Vietnam, but now has a growing worldwide following. While not prominent, within the temple were iconic references to Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Spiritualism is deep in the Caidaoism culture. Happiness Is

This image is of the upper reaches of Gullfoss, an amazing waterfall in southern Iceland. Here the water is rushing downhill just prior to it tumbling over a deep drop into the gorge. Overall the drop is about 100 feet. The water comes from a glacier that's not far from the falls. This glacial water has a golden hue to it, which gives rise to the name of the waterfall, 'gull' meaning gold. Powerful waterfalls are captivating with their sense of power and the roar of the water. What I love about this image is the way the Sun on the spray from the turbulent water has caused a rainbow to form, the deep blue sky, and the power expressed by the rushing water.

This image, originally captured on film in the late autumn of 1987, depicts the hills (mountains) of the western Lake District National Park in England. It's a while ago, but if I recall this is the view to the west from Ard Crags. In the U.K., the popular definition of a mountain is that it must exceed about 600 metres (2000 feet), of which there are many seen in this image. While the mountains here were shaped by glaciers, a long time ago, the underlying rock is a relatively soft slate, which gives the mountains here a soft silhouette. Today, these hills are mainly populated by sheep as hill farming is the major industry, and by fell walkers (hikers) who come to hills to enjoy their beauty, as did I when I walked that ridge that day.

This image is of the Egytptian-built lighthouse that guards the entrance to the old Venetian-built harbour in Rethymno in Crete. Although it is no longer in use, it dominates the harbour as it stands so proud as it overlooks the small boats. The harbour, in modern times, has been extended significantly so the purpose of the lighthouse, as a lighthouse, no longer holds, but it retains its impressiveness.

There's nothing like enjoying a vacation next to a golden sand beach with Sun and surf, and in this case a palm tree. This is an image I captured while walking on the beach near Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It was a warm, sea-breezy day. The fronds on the tree were yielding to the breeze, dancing to the ever-changing gusts. All along that stretch of shoreline, there was a reef a couple of metres off-shore that shielded the beach from the power of the surf, making the on-shore waves gentle. I hope you can feel the warmth of this day as you view this image.

Cute big teeth blue shark characters are very suitable in various print media

We hired a long-tailed boat and captain for a day and visited some of the islands in the Andaman Sea near Ao Nang in Thailand. Our captain took us to Railay Beach, a very popular tourist spot, where towering karst formation cliffs dominate the warm waters and white sand beach. This image captures, for me, the essence of that day, the long-tailed boat we hired, and one of the magnificent karst towers that dot the seascape. The sky was dark blue, the sea rich in shades of aquamarine and a hint of the white sand below. I loved the way the boat bobbed on the surface of the shallow calm water, where the clarity was such that the boat was seemingly floating above the surface. Very cool and delightfully warm.
