Domovoi Phone Cases - iPhone and Android

Description: Every old house has its keeper. Beside the warmth of the hearth sits the Domovoi—the mysterious household spirit of Slavic folklore, traditionally associated with the home, family, and those who live beneath its roof. The House Remembers depicts this watchful old guardian surrounded by the things under his care: a glowing hearth, traditional folk textiles, herbs, a well-used cup, and a very comfortable sleeping cat. Rendered in the weathered style of a vintage folklore print, this design celebrates Slavic mythology, old-world superstition, household traditions, and the strange feeling that sometimes a home may remember more than its inhabitants do. Respect the house. Be kind to the cat. Don’t annoy the Domovoi.

Description: Domowik (say: doh-MOH-veek) is the Slavic house spirit who lives by the stove, pictured as an old grey-haired man with glowing eyes. Tradition says: leave him an offering - a slice of bread strewn with salt, wrapped in a white cloth - and mind how the household behaves, because bad conduct and foul language make him angry. Treat him well and he guards the home. Original engraving-style artwork: the spirit on the stove bench, fire in the oven, bread and salt.
