Carlsbad Raceway was a motorsport facility located in Carlsbad, California that featured a ¼ mile drag strip and motocross track, which first opened in 1964. The track was popular with local street racers as it hosted Saturday afternoon grudge races where drivers could square off against their friends (and enemies) in a classic 'run what you brung' event. Motorsports activities were shut down in August 2004 and a business park was erected on the land once occupied by the raceway.

Founded in 1957, Holman-Moody was for years the official racing contractor for Ford as they race prepped GT40s, A/FX Mustangs, Cobras, Falcons, and various stock cars for NASCAR, NHRA and numerous other auto racing series from their shop in Charlotte, North Carolina. They prepared race cars that were driven by some of the best drivers in the world and would eventually transition from racing team support to an all out racing factory. Now Holman-Moody was not only building and racing their own cars, they were building complete, turn-key race cars and selling them to other teams. They would eventually begin offering their legendary engines and signature race parts so that even those who couldn't pop for an all-out race car to get a taste of th

As an avid dry lakes racer, Paul Schiefer developed his own clutches and flywheels that could take the abuse involved in propelling his racers to increasingly higher top speeds. He set up shop in 1947 and began manufacturing his clutches and flywheels for his fellow dry lakes enthusiasts and as word got out, his products became popular in other motorsports well. By 1956 Schiefer was mass-producing explosion-proof clutches which quickly became the clutch of choice for hardcore drag racers and by the mid-'60’s, the company had become the single largest manufacturer of specialty racing drive train components in the world.

DRAG-U-LA, along with the Munster Koach, was one of two cars designed by Tom Daniel while working for George Barris and Barris Kustom Industries for the television show The Munsters. It was only seen in one episode, despite being shown in the intro throughout season 2. This version of the Dragula design is nicely distressed and faded to make it look like it was handed down from Grandpa Munster himself.

Just as it had with the Road Runner in 1968, Plymouth hit a muscle car home run in 1970 with the budget-priced Duster 340. The formula for the 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 was familiar. Take a cheap-to-produce platform, in this case, a Valiant wearing a new fastback body, and treat it to a hot engine, here Mopar's respected 340-CID four-barrel V-8. The determined little Duster was lighter, roomier, and faster than the 340 'Cuda. With a base price of just $2,547, it was the lowest-priced car in Plymouth's Rapid Transit System. And it was the only one with front disc brakes standard.

Hurst Drag Racing Shifters

Like many early drag strips, Deer Park began life as an airfield and as post-war America went crazy for drag racing, runways previously used by the military during the war effort were the perfect place to scratch that itch. After opening in 1953, it wasn’t very long before Deer Park Drag Strip was the straight line scene’s place to be in the Spokane, Washington area. The track’s history was interesting and varied, and like all drag strips, there were plenty of great and not-so-great things about the place over the years. As drivers started pushing the limits of the speeds the track could safely support, construction began on a more modern track facility, Spokane Raceway Park, ending the nearly 20-year run of Deer Park Drag Strip.
