STS-5 was the first shuttle mission to deploy communications satellites into orbit, and the first officially "operational" shuttle mission.
Description: A few weeks ago I was watching a series called "For All Mankind" with some friends. It was an alternative history of the space race -- highly recommended if you haven't watched it yet -- and reminded me a lot of a book I read last year called "The Calculating Stars" -- again, highly recommended. Anyway, one thing led to another, and I started doodling what would SpaceX's logo would look like if it had evolved from NASA's original logos from back in the 60s and 70s, and then I made this version, which is based on the NASA logo from the 1980s and the space shuttle program. Hope you like it!

This STS-1 t-shirt design combines NASA's famous 'worm logo' with a schematic of the Columbia in launch configuration. Description: STS-32 was the 33rd mission of NASA's Space Shuttle program, and the ninth launch of Space Shuttle Columbia. Launched on 9 January 1990, it marked the first use of Launch Pad A at Kennedy Space Center's Complex 39 since 1986; it also marked the first use of Mobile Launcher Platform-3 (MLP-3) in the Space Shuttle program. STS-32 was, at the time, the longest shuttle mission yet conducted, with a duration of nearly 11 days. Before STS-32, the only mission of the same duration had been STS-9 in 1983. On 20 January 1990, STS-32 executed the third night landing of the shuttle program. STS-32 was also the first shuttle launch of the 1990s.
