I do not know how you feel about 2016 , but it has been quite a peculiar time in my mind. A lot of my idols dropping off like Bowie, Terry Wogan, Ronnie Corbett, Mohammed Ali, Leonard Cohen and others as well. Apart from these special people passing on, we saw some rocking events that we never would have thought would happen. I am referring to winners, referendums, elections and the rest. Yeah! Wow! However, here I am around December at the time of finishing off this series of six paintings and I am still in my short sleeves. Things have really changed from thirty years ago, I am certain of that. My memories as a young lad was of me wearing a jumper (sweater) around October. I still like to paint traditionally and this illustration has been done this way too. Probably you have realised what the theme is about, but if you haven’t right away I urge you to take a moment before it is explained to you. This would make it much more fun. It is a slightly satirical sketch, though poignant at the same time. What I am alluding to is when usually many of us feel cool in shades, it isn’t entirely like that for this chap, if you get what I mean. He may look good wearing them, however something is out of place and those glasses give it away. Indeed, what is enlightened from his image counts for us as well. Paradoxical slide is one of my illustrations I like to come up with a light hearted intention, satire and humour in mind too add to it. This is all about when things are not what they seem to be and are quite the opposite to what they really are. Contrary is the word! It could be that one thinks all is going well, until, until....whoops! It is a little humoristic play on the brain and I hope what this chap is going through won't happen to anyone in reality.
