Vintage VF-17 Jolly Rogers Squadron Design. VF-17 Fighter Squadron, knowns as the Jolly Rogers, was a fighter squadron of the US Navy established in 1943. It was the second Navy Squadron to receive the F4U Corsair, and became the most successful of them all while based on the Solomon Islands during WW2. Postwar, VF-17 was redesignated as VF-61, and disestablished in 1959.
