Permanente Quarry 1939 Pin

Dump Truck Pin

designed and sold by  JCD666

Cupertino, California is known for a lot of things, but what most people don’t know is that there is a 3,510-acre limestone quarry hidden in plain sight along Permanente Creek just west of town in an unincorporated area of Santa Clara County. The massive quarry has been in operation since 1939 when it was started to supply concrete for the construction of the Shasta Dam, and today is responsible for the production of more than half of the cement used in the Bay Area.
