Description: A Digital artwork of a USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress flying low over the English Channel, “Almost Home”. The aircraft has severe flack damage to the port wing, the tip has been blown off and the port engines are burning oil. The tail has also been damaged with the rudder and tail gun turret blown off . Escorting her home are two B17s that have dropped back in support. This is my digital depiction using photographs of the only European flying B-17 Sally-B. It’s based on photographs of B-17s that made it home with flack damage that were beyond belief!
