I went back to a perch I setup about 4 years ago hoping there was still a kingfisher in the area, I waited a couple of hours and just as I was about to leave....voila! Taken in Kanata, Ont, Canada with Canon 7D and Canon 300 2.8 +1.4 extender.

Description: Here is a tricolor bumble I saw during a week long field trip to the Adirondack mountains with my aquatic entomology class. We had just arrived at our first field site. It was an ordinary creek surrounded by Maples and Oaks. On the edge of the habitat I saw a bumblebee with an orange middle patch. A native bumblebee! Living in the lower region of the state I had never seen this bee before. It was really exciting! I've included some of my specimens and the respective habitat they were found in. Hand drawn in the car while we were on our way to the next site!
