Gannin for a plodge doon Berwick - A slang phrase in the Geordie dialect (from North East England) meaning 'Going for a wade/paddle in the sea at Berwick' a seaside town in Northumberland. A bright summertime beach feelgood design suitable for print on a range of colours.

North Berwick Law overlooks the East Lothian town of North Berwick, Scotland. It stands at 613 ft (187 m) above sea level.

This was one of the rare sunny and warm days I've experienced in Scotland and the first time having a barbeque on the beach with my friends! We were definitely very lucky and the North Berwick beaches are real beauties, a recommended stop if you visit Scotland.

Another photo of the beautiful beach in North Berwick, Scotland. This time, taken in the evening right before sunset. It's really nice how the sun in summer just goes on for hours and hours into the evening, especially when in such high latitudes like Scotland!

The Guildhall in Berwick-upon-Tweed (the northernmost town in England), Northumberland, England. Built in the 1750s, it is possibly the town's most handsome building, facing and dominating broad Marygate. Of rich brown stone in a Classical design, it has a grand portico with giant Tuscan columns and a tall spire. The bells ring for Holy Trinity Church as well as the curfew. The top floor used to be a jail and prisoners were aired on the balcony round the roof. The restoration of the hall reinstated the Buttermarket in the colonnaded rear ground floor and brought in a coffee-bar and small shop. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Photomatix Pro. The former Guildhall (now the Town Hall) in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland (the northernmost town in England). Completed in 1754, it is possibly the town's most handsome building, facing and dominating broad Marygate. Of rich brown stone in a Classical design, it has a grand portico with giant Tuscan columns and a tall spire. The bells in the Town Hall are used to summon people to the church services at Holy Trinity Church which has no steeple, tower or church bell. It is no wonder that many visitors to Berwick mistake the Town Hall for the parish church. the Town Hall Bells also still ring the curfew at 8 o'clock every evening. The top floor used to be a jail and prisoners were aired on the balcony round the roof.

Royal Border Bridge spans the River Tweed between Berwick-upon-Tweed (the northernmost town in England) and Tweedmouth in Northumberland, England. Built between 1847 and 1850, when it was opened by Queen Victoria. The engineer who designed it was the famous Robert Stephenson (son of George Stephenson). It was built for the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway and is still in regular use today, as part of the East Coast Main Line. The bridge is 659 metres long. It has 28 arches (not all arches visible here), constructed of brick but aesthetically faced with stone. The bridge is 38 metres above the river itself. In the 1990s it underwent significant repair work for the first time.
