Description: Here's a nightview of the Panathinaiko or Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympic Games of modern times took place in 1896. It has been there, in different form, since the ancient years. Since it was fully "covered" with famous pentelic marble, it took the "nickname" Kallimarmaron, whice means "beautifully marbled". In the deep background, on the right side, you can see Lycabettus hill, will on the left side you can see the slopes of Ardittos hill.

On the left side, you can see the Ano (Upper) Hora, the old part, which was "hidden" on the back of the hill, far from the eyes of the pirates. On the right side of hill, lies the Kato (Lower) Hora, the "newer", "visible" part, where the colorful church, makes a great contrast with the white little houses. Description: Full moon over the medieval "castletown" of Monemvasia. Photo taken from the yard of the house, where one of the greatest Greek poets, Giannis Ritsos, was born and raised in. His house is right above the main entrance of the castle. Monemvasia is built on a big rock which is connected with the mainland of Peloponnisos with a narrow brigde. It is often called the "Greek Gibraltar". As it is built on the "back" side of the rock it's not visible from the mainland and offers a limitless view to the sea. It's not just one castle but two. The upper one is almost completely destroyed. Only a wonderful church and one or two buildings are "still on their feet". Besides that it's worth the effort to climb all the stairs you see on the left part ...
