There's something fishy about this clown...

Clownfish or anemonefish are fishes from the subfamily Amphiprioninae in the family Pomacentridae. Thirty species of clownfish are recognized: one in the genus Premnas, while the remaining are in the genus Amphiprion. In the wild, they all form symbiotic mutualisms with sea anemones. Depending on the species, anemonefish are overall yellow, orange, or a reddish or blackish color.

Oh well hello there. You’re—you’re not going to eat me are you?

I first sketched this cute clownfish as part of an August drawing challenge on Instagram about animals affected by climate change. The kingfisher was the prompt for day 17. I liked it so much I drew it up properly afterwards and here it is :)

The ocellaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris), also known as the false percula clownfish or common clownfish, is a marine fish belonging to the family Pomacentridae, which includes clownfishes and damselfishes. Amphiprion ocellaris are found in different colors, depending on where they are located. For example, black Amphiprion ocellaris with white bands can be found near northern Australia, Southeast Asia, and Japan. Orange or red-brown Amphiprion ocellaris also exist with three similar white bands on the body and head. Amphiprion ocellaris can be distinguished from other Amphriphon species based on the number of pectoral rays and dorsal spines. Amphiprion ocellaris are known to grow about 110 mm long.

The ocellaris clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris), also known as the common clownfish, are most well known for living their adult lives in a host anemone.

The clownfish are getting festive this time of year. They decorated a christmas tree worm!

Clownfish are one of my favorite tropical fish because of their cheerful orange and white coloring. These colorful, gentle little fish are a favorite reef safe fish for an aquarium. Clownfish live in a coral reef.

Many morphs of this species exist but the most commonly seen are a vibrant red orange with three vertical white stripes which are lined in black. Drawn using ink pens on Bristol board. This drawing is part of a collection of 11 clownfish illustrations, I am fascinated by the exotic clownfish morphs available in the aquarium trade and so wanted to draw some! Each drawing in the collection is available in both black and white and coloured and the whole collection will be available in one print all together!

I love how vibrant parrotfish are so I decided to paint one - I hope you like it too!

From the series “Ancient beasts”, oil and pencil on paper. Original size: 30 x 21 cm. The medieval illustrators represented animals that they had never seen, described by others, or derived from mythology. This generated monstrous creatures. From here comes the idea of a common set of animals, which are deformed with the help of redundant decorative codes. To simulate the ancient miniatures, I use ink and uniform color areas.
