This pretty design celebrates the flora and fauna living on the forest floor in Humboldt County. Hidden under the giant redwoods on the California coast, fascinating creatures lurk. Also, many different shrubs populate the understory of old-growth redwood forests.

A quick doodle of creatures you might find on the forest floor: eastern cottontail rabbit, hermit thrush, hooded warbler, fiddleheads, eastern chipmunk, eastern newt, white trillium, ferns, false Solomon’s seal, amber snails, six-spotted tiger beetles, and puffballs.

This brown ombre moth is created from different items that one would find on the forest floor. An oak tree acorn for its body, maple key seeds for the wings and eyes, pine needles for legs. My own original line drawing is the basis for my insect design. Nature lovers will adore this imaginary forest moth.
