Geisha Picture Pins and Buttons
Description: Ink, gouache and digital. Japanese women have been perfecting the art of entertainment for hundreds of years. Yet the term geisha, or geigi, only emerged in the 18th century. Geishas are seen as successful, skilled and emotionally strong. There is no equivalent to geisha in the West, therefore, the literal translation ‘entertainer’ is often used.
Description: “Picture Poised” captures the geisha in the quiet moment between breath and becoming — the instant where stillness becomes power. She stands not as a performer, but as a presence: composed, centered, and impossibly aware of the worlds she carries within her. This artwork reveals the discipline beneath beauty, the ritual beneath grace, and the inner fire beneath the painted calm. Her posture is deliberate, her expression unreadable, her aura sharpened by the weight of nine lived lives. Every blossom, every fold of silk, every shadow around her feels intentional — as if she is arranging the universe simply by standing in it. “Picture Poised” is a meditation on control, identity, and the art of holding one’s power without ever raising a voic
