Description: Sir Graves Ghastly was the delightfully goofy horror host who introduced generations of Cleveland-area viewers to late-night monster movies throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Created and portrayed by television personality Lawson J. Deming, Sir Graves debuted on WJBK-TV in Detroit in 1967 before the show expanded into syndication, becoming especially popular in northern Ohio. Dressed in a tattered top hat and cape with wild hair, exaggerated makeup, and a booming laugh, Sir Graves mixed classic horror films with slapstick comedy, corny puns, and memorable catchphrases like "Nnnnnize!" His faithful sidekick, the rubber chicken named George, and a cast of quirky characters made the show a favorite among kids and adults alike.
