Henley Pins and Buttons

Looking over the River Thames at Henley in Oxfordshire here produced as a digital coloured pencil drawing. Rising above the riverside buildings is the C16th tower of the parish church of St Mary the Virgin. Further upriver cab be seen Henley Bridge constructed in 1786. Henley is probably most famous for the annual Royal Regatta - the 'Royal' status being given when Prince Albert became patron in 1851.

The moorings on the riverside at Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire . Quiet now in winter but in summer a hive of activity with pleasure boats and visitors. In the background is the bridge built in 1786, now Grade 1 listed and with a weight limit for traction engines! To the left is the tower of the 16th century parish church of St Mary the Virgin. This stretch of the river is famous for boat racing and nearby is the River and Rowing Museum.

The races are run between Temple Island and a finishing line just downstream of the Bridge - a distance of 1 mile 550 yards.
