The series was then picked up for syndication in September of 1984, running for 4 seasons through July of 1988. Originally aired late at night, each episode was an individual short story that often ended with a plot twist. The series' episodes spanned the genres of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, and while many episodes were gory and quite horrific in nature, some episodes featured elements of black comedy or more lighthearted themes. In 1990, a feature-length movie was produced that followed a similar anthology format, all tied together by a single tale containing them all.
