Hot Cross Buns Pins and Buttons

Description: At Hoppers Crossing Hot Cross Bun House, Easter is less a season and more an administrative misunderstanding. This entirely fictional bakery serves spiced, fruit-filled, cross-topped buns all year round, because no baked good this magnificent should be held hostage by a calendar. Perfect for bakery obsessives, Melbourne suburb enthusiasts and anyone who sees hot cross buns in January and thinks, “Good. They’re back.” Cool fact: The crosses on traditional hot cross buns are usually piped from a simple flour-and-water paste before the buns are baked.
