I captured the reference photo for Moonta Jetty while standing on the jetty of Moonta Bay. The green waters contrasted with the rustic wood of the jetty. You can imagine standing on the jetty casting a line or being mesmerised by the water below.

Clouds building up over the pier at Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. The first pier here was opened in 1898. This was because a steamship ferry service between Cardiff and Penarth - its nearest seaside town - had begun in 1856 (this continued until 1903) and the ships needed a pier to tie up in deeper water. The rather handsome art deco pavilion was opened in 1930. In its time this has been a concert hall, ballroom and even a cinema.

I was standing in the crystal clear waters by the Moonta Bay jetty when I captured the reference photo for this painting. The rustic wood contrasts with the clean seawater. Moonta Bay jetty is on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. The Yorke Peninsula offers some of the best fishing in Australia.
