Description: In this “Great Women of Science” Series we will be featuring artworks with women who changed the course of Science. Lise Meitner is another one of those brilliant scientists who did path-breaking work in their fields and yet were under-appreciated. Lise Meitner was the first to articulate a theory of how the nucleus of an atom could be split into smaller parts, accompanied by the ejection of several neutrons and a large amount of energy. In effect she articulated nuclear fission when his colleague Otto Hahn was unable to make sense of the results.
