Long Exposure Pins and Buttons

The dual Gateway Bridges, which span the width of the Brisbane River near the Port of Brisbane. When I moved to Brisbane, there was only one Gateway Bridge; it has since been duplicated to handle all of the traffic bypassing Brisbane as they travel up and down the east coast. They're definitely a pretty impressive sight!

The perfect hexagonal stepping stones of the Giant's Causeway leading down into an ocean glowing pink under a fiery sunset. This UNESCO World Heritage site absolutely lived up to my expectations. It's such a different place from nearly every other seascape I've seen before. The basalt columns form perfect staircases so you can clamber all over the rocks, and even in near darkness, I felt perfectly comfortable hopping from one to the next.

Waves crash over the rocks at Bombo Quarry as storms roll in from the sea beyond. This is definitely a place where you have to watch what the waves are doing before you put your tripod down so you can make sure it won't get swept down into the rocky gorges beyond!

Forest Illusions- Aspens and Sweet Peas is a combination of long exposure and planned camera movement combined with the natural lighting and colorations of the scene before me. Not more than a half mile from my home there is a patch of wild sweet peas in a grove of aspens. The morning sun exploded it into a palette of color! Why be so drab when one can charge into the day with all the colors of nature!

Waves crash into Snapper Rocks just after sunrise. The tide was a bit rough, which made for a great churning effect in long exposure.

After a day of shooting around San Francisco and the Marin Headlands, we were disappointed to find that the customary Golden Gate Bridge viewpoint was completely fogged over -- but luckily the fog didn't reach as far as the Bay Bridge!

The aurora seemingly emanating from one of the cabins at Galdotieva, near the Norwegian border in Enontekiö, Finland. Even under the full moon, the northern lights completely lit up the sky in green.

Happy Australia Day everyone! If you're here in Oz, I hope your day involves plenty of beach and BBQ time. This would have been the perfect way to start Australia Day, but since it's a bit rainy today I'm just looking back on my memories of Point Cartwright a few weeks ago.
