Description: Based on the novels of Richard Hooker, this Robert Altman film follows the zany surgeons and other staff of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Korea. Although the top-ranked series was initially based on this film, it was homogenized; most of the dozens of characters, amalgamated in the series, are depicted in the film just as they were in the novels. Set during the Korean War, surgeons Captains "Hawkeye" Pierce and "Duke" Forrest, join the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), located three miles from the front lines. Both are draftees and care little for military protocols and conventions. They are soon joined by another surgeon even more anarchic and insubordinate in his attitude, Capt. John "Trapper" McIntyre.
Description: The Combat Medical Badge is an award of the United States Army which was first created in January 1945. Any member of the Army Medical Department, at the rank of Colonel or below, who is assigned or attached to a ground Combat Arms unit of brigade or smaller size which provides medical support during any period in which the unit was engaged in active ground combat is eligible for the CMB.
