Muthoni Kirima Pins and Buttons

Description: Honor Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima (1931–2023), the only woman to hold the rank of Field Marshal in the Kenya Land and Freedom Army (Mau Mau), with this Kenya vintage postage stamp design. The artwork shows a halftone portrait of Kirima in a red beret and long dreadlocks, framed by a perforated border of Kenyan flags. It has a “KENYA” header, her name in bold green lettering and a Kenya flag fingerprint. Kirima joined the Mau Mau fighters in the forest in the early 1950s, earned the respect of Dedan Kimathi, and became a symbol of women’s courage in Kenya’s fight against colonial rule. A good fit for Kenyan pride, African history, Pan-African style and women’s history. Gift it for Mashujaa Day, Jamhuri Day, Black History Month or Wome
