This icon, also known as "Not Made by Hands" or "The Mandylion", is one of the most important icons in the Orthodox Church. This icon is entitled "Christos Acheiropoietos" (made without hands) and comes from the Novgorod School (around 1100).
Description: This architectural, monochrome photograph was taken on 9 April 2026 during my Easter trip in the late afternoon using a NIKON D800 (lens: NIKKOR 24.0–70.0 mm f/2.8). The abstraction of the colour tones into classic black and white lends the architectural motif an elegant and timeless atmosphere. The Basilica della Trasfigurazione – better known as the Cathedral of Cefalù – is the town’s landmark and a must-see for every visitor to Cefalù. It is a hymn to beauty that has withstood the test of time, wars and modernity, as it preserves the traces of Arab-Norman influence on the island.
