The Totem Pole was a gift from the people of Canada to HM The Queen in June, 1958. The Pole is 100 feet high, one foot for every year, and marks the centenary of British Columbia, which was named by Queen Victoria and proclaimed a Crown Colony on November 19th 1858. It is now the Pacific Coast Province of Canada. Totem Poles are a characteristic feature of Pacific coast Indian Art. They have no religious significance, being more akin to a Family Tree, embodying legendary tribal history.

Osborne House Number of views as of 28th June 2018 = 530. The family home of Queen Victoria, her husband Prince Albert and their 9 children, Osborne was purchased by the royal couple in 1845. Master builder Thomas Cubitt was approached to demolish the old house and build the magnificent Italianate mansion that is today maintained by English Heritage. The house (near East Cowes on the Isle of Wight) has extensive grounds and a private beach overlooking the Solent where the Queen regularly bathed and her children learned to swim. The sumptuously furnished royal apartments must be seen to be believed and it was here in 1878 that Alexander Graham Bell demonstrated his new invention (the telephone) to the Queen. Jubilee Clock Tower, Weymouth, January 2023 This clock tower on Weymouth Esplanade (Dorset, England) was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's 1887 Golden Jubilee. The plaque reads: JUBILEE MEMORIAL ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION THE CLOCK BEING THE GIFT OF SIR HENRY EDWARDS " Date: 30th January 2023.

In 1839, Samuel Cunard was awarded the first British transatlantic steamship mail contract, and the next year formed the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company in Glasgow with shipowner Sir George Burns (whose descendants took the title of Lord Inverclyde) together with Robert Napier, the famous Scottish steamship engine designer and builder, to operate the line's four pioneer paddle steamers on the Liverpool–Halifax–Boston route. For most of the next 30 years, Cunard held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic voyage. However, in the 1870s Cunard fell behind its rivals, the White Star Line and the Inman Line. To meet this competition, in 1879 the firm was reorganised as the Cunard Steamship Company, Ltd.
