A collection of Sir Nigel Gresley designed record breakers. Flying Scotsman LNER number 4472 became the first steam locomotive to be officially authenticated at a speed of 100 MPH in 1934. Silver Link LNER number 2509 the first steam locomotive to record 112 MPH in 1935. Mallard LNER number 4468 is the holder of the world speed record for a steam locomotive at 126 mph in 1938 and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley set a post-war steam speed record of 112mph in 1959.

The Virginian Railway was a Class I railroad located in Virginia and West Virginia in the United States. The VGN was created to transport high quality "smokeless" bituminous coal from southern West Virginia to port at Hampton Roads.

At this site, Madrid's first railway station was inaugurated on 9 February 1851 under the name Estación de Mediodía (Atocha-Mediodía is now the name of an area of the Arganzuela district, and means south in old Spanish). After the building was largely destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt and reopened in 1892. The architect for the replacement, in a wrought iron renewal style was Alberto de Palacio Elissagne, who collaborated with Gustave Eiffel. Engineer Henry Saint James also took part in the project.[1] The name Atocha has become attached to the station because of the nearby basilica dedicated to Our Lady of Atocha. Railway Station built 1924 as the terminal on the Korong Vale line servicing north western Victoria, Australia. The building is the only remaining example of what was a standard "Manangatang" style, Type C (1919) design. The "Manangatang" style design was used on cross-country lines of lesser importance; it was all timber and serviceable for a range of situations including goods only and mixed service. The type C variant featured an enlarged office area. Sante Fe Chiefs Railway

A digital drawing depicting the steam locomotive Flying Scotsman as it would have been seen between 1949 and 1954 in British Railways Express Blue with the number 60103. In 1947 it had been converted from Class A1 to A3 with a replacement boiler and the rounded steam collector replaced with the elongated "banjo" dome, it was also renumbered from 103 to 60103 in 1948. At this time it was allocated to Leicester Central shed running the Nottingham Victoria to London Marylebone services.

BR Standard Class 7 70013 Oliver Cromwell in a design incorporating its nameplate. Photographed here as the "Red Dragon". The Red Dragon was an express passenger train between London Paddington and Swansea in Wales. The 720 indicates this is the "Up" train, IE the return to London.

A black and white image of Southern Railways locomotive 34027 "Taw Valley" depicted pulling the boat train from London Waterloo to Southampton Ocean Terminal. The headboard indicates that the liner at Southampton Docks will be one of Holland American's fleet of liners. The photograph was taken at Arley Station on the Severn Valley Railway.

For many years I have appreciated art both the classical masters and the modernists... I haven't the foggiest really ~ I wouldn't really know my Monet from my Van Gogh... but I do, very much appreciate their styles. I had thought about studying the arts further ~ but one can't do everything ~ and so I'm just an admirer. This piece I think emulates one of those masters - but with a modern day twist of a modern painting!

Tennessee Central Railway

The St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company (reporting mark SSW), known by its nickname of "The Cotton Belt Route" or simply "Cotton Belt", is a former Class I railroad that operated between St. Louis, Missouri, and various points in the U.S. states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Texas from 1891 to 1980, when the system added the Rock Island's Golden State Route and operations in Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
