"There Is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as time and space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and supserstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Beauty is surface level and merely a comparison to the norm. If everyone is "ugly", a beautiful person would be seen as ugly.

Although it is not a human subject, "Rabbit" from the 1983 horror classic Twilight Zone: The Movie was just as challenging for me to make. The original painting has been sold but now you can buy the adorable critter here. This image *is* from a painting and not a still from the film so know there are brush and canvas marks!

LIVING DOLL "Talky Tina"

The Mystic Seer was found in diners throughout America, though most people know it from the legendary The Twilight Zone episode 'Nick of Time' that starred William Shatner. Nick of Time was Episode 7 of Season 2 and first aired on November 18, 1960, so whether you're a Twilight Zone fan, in league with satan or just like weird t-shirts, look no further than the Mystic Seer.

The Twilight Zone is my favorite show of all time, despite it having concluded long before I was born. Rod Serling is a hero of mine - a perfect wordsmith and creator of truly fascinating studies of the human psyche, tales that due to stellar writing, directing, and acting, feel almost more real than most TV today, despite the outlandish sci-fi scenarios. For this, I chose 4 of my favorite episodes that could be instantly recognizable with floating heads, and I used color symbolically. For the background color gradients, I created a subtle "Z" shape as a nod to the show. I also developed a new shape-drawing technique to create the faces piece by piece. It is a very tedious process, but rewarding, as it is an original look!

First check the human heart

I used the color red on this one to symbolize anger, aggression, and danger, which our unfriendly neighborhood 3-eyed Venusian here most certainly represents. Based on another one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes, this piece is essentially another spoiler (sorry), but I will assume my fellow fans of "Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?" won't mind.
